Danielle Angel
11-14-2008, 10:55 PM
I played the Titan free role today and although I came in 57th place I think I did well :) . There were 1750 entrants in the tourney and I was late , I had $900 and only 9 bb's blinds left. Considering there was still over 1200 entrants (roughly) on my arrival I am pretty proud to have gotten that far
Unfortunately I went all in with poc 3's against the sb and bb and well ..... I was called with K10 and out the door.
Regardless, this is a victory to me :D
I will be posting a hand from the tournament for discussion. Please let me know what you would have done in my position !!!

That is absolute gold Mustardeggs, i saw the heads up of an APL game like that, after about 20min heads up one guys said ok all in blind next hand winner takes all, they both said yes, board came out something like K,9,2,3,8 or something terrible like that, first guy turns over KJ other guy has AA, best 2 hands of heads up and they both played blind, in the end i think the same result would have occured anyway even if they saw their cards, but very funny how that happens
mustardeggs
11-17-2008, 01:23 AM
yeah its gold but I got an even better from a friend, this happened like 2 weeks ago and we just had amazing time :D ( this is copied out of his facebook where he made a note on one of his pics) :
Annnd finally: the best for last. I never wanted to go to Bangkok. But everyone was going so I tried to justify the trip financially to myself. I figured it would cost 500 in total. So, I responsibly decided to log on to poker and find a high-stakes player whom I knew kinda. I asked him if he wanted to flip for 500 (a flip is basically being dealt two random cards and letting the board run out. It is, essentially, a coinflip but more exciting). He said sure. What hand did I get dealt? THE ACES. The best hand in unlimited hold’em!! They held vs. his Q3 and I left him bewildered as I went off to Bangkok knowing the Gods were on my side.

Ooooh I just discovered something really annoying. Well as said above i won this qualifying me to play the 50 Frenzy. So if i become one of the 50 people going through to 300K GTD I would be very happy if i could make a deal with a playr. The problem is that i can't participate in the 300K GTD as it is played while im on my way to DK from Spain. So the deal is that if i qualify some playr plays my entry and gets 50% of the winnings for their time :) Any up for that deal???

I think you have to play it yourself.....

You actually have to play this yourself Froedo. If you get caught allowing someone else to use your account you can be disqualified and suspended and many other things.
Best play it yourself ;) ;) ;) ..... send a PM to your friends about how hard this will be for you, if you get my drift ;) A friend who lives in the DK and can support you at this terrible time. They can wipe your tears for you lol. They are also at the same country you are headed to. :D

Well im checking up on it atm. CUs i remember a specific case with Søren Kongsgaard in the 750K GTD on FTP. He came in second. The only reason he won this was the other guy got disqualified. And the reason was not that it wasnt he's account, but the fact that he played on he's own account also in the tourney.
So ill check it up and get back to you

Unless he had the set of Aces with AA on the board.... That would also make it more likely he was afraid of the full house
;)

isnt that the other way around, that some feel that trips is only when you have a PP and then hit the board.. ?
Thats just what i heard... not sure its right
Slinky
12-21-2008, 04:59 PM
A set is when you hold the PP and trips is when 2 of your card come down! Thats what ive always been told..hmm will look into it now K1 :D

12-21-2008, 05:47 PM
no slinky, that would be quads then :)
In fact when u have a pocketpair and hit another of the 2 remaining cards that makes you set
Slinky
12-21-2008, 07:19 PM
Thats what i ment Mustard.. A pp that hits another of its kind is a set, example you have AA and flop A** .. thats a set but when you have AK and the flop comes AA* thats trips :D

haha, sweet little argument, here's my 2c .... they both are 3 of a kind lmao
3 of a kind = trips
3 of a kind = a set
technically in poker lingo however: a set is definitely hitting your 3rd card on the board PP + 3rd on board. Trips I thought was whatever way either PP + 1 on board or 1 in hand ad 2 on board. Trips are simply trips are they not ?
Mustardeggs .... job well done !!!!!

You are right:
http://poker.about.com/od/pokerglossary/g/Trips.htm
http://poker.about.com/od/pokerglossary/g/Set.htm
so technicaly it is wrong to say "set of aces afraid of full house".
it should be "trip-aces afraid of full house" for it to make sence.

I agree with mustard here if he had the set of aces (pocket aces hitting the flop) , heads up he is 100% favourite to win the pot if he has AA (as a full house for you means a repeated card and top full house for him)and if he has just one ace in the pocket gives him over 90% chance of winning with any second card, all he could be worried about was a lucky pocket pair hitting, which is unlikely no way a player will throw down this hand from this position if he knows how to play, but again nice story it sounds sweet til you think about it for more than 2-3 sec.

My thoughts with sets vs trips was
-Set= PP hitting flop, Trips= one pocket card being repeated twice on the board....
Maybe a technicality, but what I've always been told

Congrats, wp, the field is weak so make sure you play solid poker, keep notes on the players and attack the bubble b/c so many people are satteliters like yourself who are desperate to at least reach the money. Once the bubble is burst you will find everyone loosen up so be aware that ranges are wider.

Congrats to Matti Doogs who would probably never post this. I watched him play some spectacular poker at The Aussie Millions. He played cash games against some kick ass players, unfortunately for them they didnt kick as hard as he did.
Awesome poker mate, nice to see a member from theplayr.com playing so well. Spend your huge cash stack wisely :D (wow! what a huge amount of chips :D :D :D )

LOL cheers Dan, Yeah great night on Sunday during the first day of play, decided to have a look at some of the ring games as there were a lot of wanna bees floating around, sat at a table with 20BB stack. After about 90min had chipped it up to 90BB with a couple of nice hands. Lost a bit shortly afterwards calling 2 low all ins (approx 25% pot value) after the flop with a King high flush draw and 2 over cards, knew I was behind but big options to catch up, sadly no good but gladly the only time I was put in a position where I had to catch up. Played for about 4.5hrs and stood up with 185BB worth of chips, and a nice big smile on my face. One of the nicest hands was cleaning out a guy who limped in mid position with Aces to my pkt 4s and me hitting the set on the flop, he couldnt get his money in fast enough and then went off his head when he lost the hand, very funny, I laughed as I pulled in the money he had kindly donated to me.
