Halloween (or Hallowe’en) is an international holiday celebrated on the evening of October 31; today it is often celebrated in the morning and afternoon as well. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o'-lanterns, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is celebrated in several countries of the Western world, most commonly in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Puerto Rico, Japan, Australia, United Kingdom, and at times in parts of New Zealand. In Sweden, the All Saints' official holiday takes place on the first Saturday of November.

So nobody has any spooky stories? :(
Ok which one should I tell ya?.....
When I was a kid, I used to live in a little village. My grandparents house was by the village chapel, and one day after running out of games to play....me, my cousin and my friend Vera sat on the three little steps that led from the church yard to my grandparents' house.
We were bored and as usual I though of a game....the main road run from behind the chapel to our right...''let's pretend we are driving''. My cousin claimed driver since she was older, I was narrator of our journey, and Vera would add the spice of jokes...
''beep beep....so we are driving, driving down the road...'' My cousin turns the invisable wheel and pushes me to the side as she turns on a curve. ''yay...look, look! There's a cow, wave at the cow, heehee'' Everybody waves at the invisable cow. But Vera interrupts ''hey...something should happen''...quickly I reply ''let's have an accident'' - and everybody agrees. ''Ok, we are three tourists and we are coming from our holidays and we can't die, so we are only gonna have scratches...So...we are driving down the road, look at the cow'' Everybody waves at the cow...''Boom, we bangged against the tree, boom, boom, boom, we are rolling down the road...''
Suddenly...we hear a BANG coming from behind us, from behind the chapel....we went running...to find the older people were already there, before us...it only took us a minute to run there.....my cousin asked what happened and the reply was this: ''three tourists, coming from their holidays, bangged against the tree and rolled down the road, but they only have scratches''.
What freaks me out the most is that the old ppl were there before us...don't get it...just don't get it....
(note: this was the only incident of its kind that i've been through....it's not what it looks like) :o

The lack of stories could be because most of us are from denmark, where we dont have a tradition of celebrating halloween.... ;)

Halloween is starting to be celebrated here in Denmark, and its growing fast, but it is still not that many who does
About easter, x-mas and birthdays you cant avoid them by moving to denmark, but you could make a little x-mas trick. We celebrate x-mas on the 24th so by flying back and forth correcly you avoid x-mas.....

I found this on google but still no reason as to WHY its the 24th and not the 25th!
n Denmark we celebrate Christmas almost the same way as you. We have something called advent. It is a tradition that is more than 300 years old. It begins four Sundays before Christmas. We light a candle each Sunday before Christmas Eve. They say that it is to count down the days until Christmas. Each candle stands for something. The first candle - joy, the second - hope, the third - faith, and the fourth - peace. Each Sunday, the children get one present each. The 13th of December is Santa Lusia Day, as you may remember Tina Larson telling you last year. The 23rd is what we call "Little Christmas Eve." On this day, some people celebrate Christmas.
On the morning of the 24th, we can open one present. Later in the afternoon, the family comes. Then about 4:00 P.M., we start eating dinner. The first course is different from year to year, but the main course is always roast pork. For dessert, we have Rice ala Mande that is served in a big bowl located in the center of the table. Rice ala Mande is a game where you have to find the whole almond. If you find it, you have to hide it until the bowl is empty. Then you can tell that you have it and you then get a present.
After we finish eating, we dance around the Christmas Tree and sing Christmas carols. One of my favorite songs is "Dejlig er Jorden", or Lovely is the Earth. We sing about ten songs, then the oldest member of the family picks out a present from under the tree and reads the name of whom its for. Then the person it is for unwraps it and chooses another present (We unwrap all presents Christmas Eve.)
In Denmark we also have Santa Claus, but we call him "Jule Mander", but otherwise, he is the same. From the 1st of December through the 24th, we can watch Christmas Calendar, a television series that is different from year to year.
I'm intrigued now :D

We have started to have Halloween parties but do not trick or treat in Australia. I can tell you all about my Halloween though what a frightful night :( .... My daughter came down with chicken pox, my boyfriend is in hospital and I have now just had surgery and are hoping to be not so drugged or in so much pain for the tournament in a matter of hours. If this aint scary I dont know what is :(. I am hoping some pain subsides and I am not up all night with my scratching daughter....otherwise I will have to unregister :( trick or treat for me :(
