I have been grinding a lot in the last few months in order to get my role back. :o I am wondering how everyone grinds away ?

I have been playing stupid annoying CAP limit cash games day in day out. (VERY LOW LEVEL) It has however proved to be pretty successful. I wrote a huge thread about how I have been grinding away, but I was logged off and it was deleted, I will make this one smaller.

As I said I have been grinding away on these pest full tables  Grinding my teeth at the same time. :p The wins are very slow most of the time as I am playing premium hands only with the occasional bluff where I know I can pull it off. In this case, I am bringing in only $100 a day to my role (If I play all day). Sometimes I lose and move sites or quit all together for the day, sometimes I am on a winning streak and go for gold. Regardless it is very tedious and annoying grinding:mad: Again ... I am playing premium hands ONLY with the occasional step out of place. Does everyone grind like this ?

Place your grinding tips, woes, advice and success here :)

1st, when writing a long post you can either do it in a .txt before posting or if you get logged of after pressing the submit button you can just click the " go back " button in your browser and you should still see what you wrote, just copy & paste that ;)

2nd I think there are alot of people 6 tablling 12 tabling and more who play like this, personally I couldnt do that so I prefer playing heads up poker.

3rd cut the number of tables and hands you are playing and use the timing to study ALOT and improve your game ALOT. This will higher your Winrate and lower the variance, make you a better play and is more fun....profit!

1. thx, I will do a txt format and paste it from now on or go back lol. :p
2. maybe heads up is an option for me, I am probably better at heads up then anything and it would be much better grinding that way. Do you suggest I look for players with lots of money waiting for a victim lol :p try and double up and get out ? or Look for someone with about the same role as me who is waiting ? Probably a stupid question I can answer myself lol.
3. I am far from good at multi tabling and never do it !!! My hands are cut as minimal as I can I only am playing the most premium and really concentrating. I must have put the wrong word across by typing tables .... I meant these tables in general :)
4. I have had a big fat losing day :( I should have gotten off when it started like a try and forcefully make myself do. NM :(

Thanks so much for those pointers mustardeggs, very help full :)

As for heads up you usually sit at your own table waiting for fish, once you get better you can start to play certain regulars as alot of them arent really great.

As for playing tight, if youre putting 2 or 3 hours into reainf blogs and articles watching videos posting in forums and reviewing your hands you will get so much better and either

A) start to multitable alot with a solid strategy or

B) play less tables but become a very tough player and start to continue to beat those limits and move oyur way up in limits for new challenges.

Do you have any tips on the bad regulars ? :D

I think I will move up a limit once I get over today. Seems I can make a lot more money on the higher stakes (where I foolishly started a year ago). Same play style larger pots to win :) ... of course there are larger pots to lose but I have no intention on doing that lol.

I have been reading watching and writing for months and months. Talking, chatting learning. As a poker player I will always be learning I guess. I never thought to review my hands. There are a lot I think of regularly and a lot I have learnt from. I will endeavor to review more hands as I am grinding .... being al of them !!!

well i tof course depends from opponent to opponent. So will let you get away with winning a ton of flops preflop some will hang themselves with overagression some just adjust too slowly and some dont change their style of play at all. Heads up is a complete different game, it has nothing to with the robotic play of Fullring or 6max wich most playrs do.

hmmm, think I hung myself with over aggression yesterday. I definitely know the style of those players. If all goes well today I will hit the heads up cash games..... you did mean cash heads up right ?? Not heads up double up tournaments ???

I had a GREAT day time at the tables playing HU cash, I think I will try a little more of it as a grinding method in the next few days. Your knowledge is worth its weight in gold Mustardeggs, tyvm :)

Last night i grinded 11k danish kroner (I think it is $2100 or so). I found that the fastest way to build a bankroll is playing cashgame. I usually play with 1$/2$ blinds. Also, low stakes tournaments (10$-50$) seems to be full of unexperienced players. I usually play 1 or 2 tournaments and 4 10-handed cashtables since 10-handed requires less attention that 6-handed IMO.
I've tried playing 8 tables, but I found it a lot more difficult to keep track of opponents betting pattherns etc. My advice: Experiment. Play at a stake you feel comfortable with. If you don't have the feeling that you can outplay your opponents, you should probably play at lower stakes.

hmmm don't think I will be playing tourneys of that value in a hurry :o Nor grinding that much in 1 night :( I have been playing 6 handed though, so amybe I will switch to 10 ;)

As for playing multi tables, I have a bit of an issue with the monitor I am using right now :( and my ability to concentrate on them. Certainly I have played multi tables and grinded well :) More then well :D But can't right now.

You must be an awesome player, keep up the advice :D and the good work !!

I'm not an awesome player. I'm sure that there are plenty of much more experienced players in this forum :).

If you like playing SNG's I can recommend the 20$ 10 handed "Cambridge" on iPoker (Titan, NoIQ etc. are all a part of the iPoker network). I believe that 20$ SNG's on iPoker are much easier than 11$ on FullTilt.

If you aren't going to multitable you should probably stick to 6 handed unless you feel that 10 handed fits your style better. In my opinion there isn't that much of a difference. Late pos 6 handed is more or less like mid pos 10 handed and that's about the only thing you have to adjust to. Once you get a feeling of what hands to play in what positions this adjustment shouldn't be difficult at all.

Cash is a lot different than SNG's. In cash you are usually deepstack (100 BB's). I think you can argue that suited connectors are much more valueable in cash game than in SNG's. You can be much more creative when you play cash. Usually you only get to be creative the first couple of levels in an SNG. If I wake up in the blinds with a hand like T9 suited in cash game and I am facing a semi-loose mid pos raiser I am likely to put in a reraise. If I'm playing an SNG and I have the usual 10-20 BB's I am much more likely to just fold it. There is no value in calling a raise unless you have a stack to back it up with.
I think people who say cash is like normal tournaments are in the wrong.

Also take into consideration how good your HU play is. When you play cash it will usually always be with the same amount of people. This means that once you figured out your own personal style in cash you don't have to do many adjustments other than improving your play in details.

Hey Buldermar. That was a very good explenation of the different between cashgames and SnG's. :) I think you have a nice way to tell about your own experience about playing Poker.

I believe that 20$ SNG's on iPoker are much easier than 11$ on FullTilt.

Why do you believe that? If it's right I have to change. I'm doing quite well on FullTilt 10$ 45 seats right now, so maybe I can some more money on Titan at that level :rolleyes:
