In nearly all books and other written stuff, they say "raise" or "reraise". But they never tell about how much a raise is or from which position it has to bee so and so:confused:

But how much is a raise? I have heard about 3 times big blind, as a raise in 1st. position preflop. Will a reraise of the first raise then have to be 3 times that?
How much is a raise and reraise postflop, on turn and river?

It should not be a pattern of betting, but some rules of thum;)

This is actually a great post. This is actually a place where i also have some problems. Always seems like i get called when i don't want to get called and people always fold when i want them to call :P

i think this is a common problem that prob best worked out (as most of the game) by who you are playing, eg have AA, do u raise 3x/4x and have no callers or call blinds or raise 2x, and have everyone call and get sucked out on the flop, best I can say which i do is learn early in the piece what bets are getting called and adjust as needed. Obviously the idea of raise or re-raise is to get the crap hands statisicaly out valued so u dont get stung but keep a certain value for partial hands to consider, hard 1 and I dont think you could ever be happy that u have the exact combination to suit all situations..
