Got into this debate last night about Limit Holdem, now as i've never played and never will play the game i should've minded my own really but i was so intrigued by the discussion i thought i'd see what people here think..Especially Mustard as he is a Limit Holdem pro!!...

OK so whats being said is its always essential in limit holdem to fold small pocket pairs, 8's and under when your in the first 3 seats left of the button!..

WTF!..is that all about?! Surely the same as in NLH you would try to limp in and catch a cheap flop, theres always the easy fold when the players ahead of you go mad (but thats only twice the BB!) or you miss the flop!

Like a friend just said in a juicy 5/10$ cash game are you going to fold 6's when its only 20$ max to see a flop?!

Would love your opinion guys..please :)

What positions are we talking about? 8s are usually an open raise from almost all positions. Limping is never a good idea unless the table is nuts.

Early position...like the first 3 seats left to the button! According to Sklansky's theory its absolutely essential to fold pocket 2's to pocket 8's in early position! Why?!

I just dont get it, surely your getting in cheaply no matter the position on LH and if you limp or raise from early there's always the option of getting out the way if the players ahead go wild!..

Well yes you shud fold alot most of these lower pocker pairs in early position.

Because you will almost always encounter flops who are too hard to play especially out of position and if your opponents know you open say 55 under the gun the can in theory just call with any 2 cards and raise any flop or turn against you.

If the table is very loose and fishy then it is ok to limp with say 44 I suppose.

I can see your point but isnt it the same as NLH .. see a flop and easy fold when you miss?!

No because u dont flop a set often enough to justify the money you loose when you dont.

And when we actually hit a set we will not win enough to justify the losses you the take when you dont plus the losses when you build a big pot and loose it.
